Shahram Kabiri

We have a short conversation with Shahram Kabiri from Dubai, the author of romantic books “Sometimes I miss Myself” and “A thousand Roses”

What inspired you to start writing?

Everyone’s heart trembles once in a lifetime. And I think it was love that first made me feel like writing. Yes, teenage love

How long have you been writing?

As I said, teenage love. From adolescence and school time, I always had a diary, and I always wrote, not for anyone, just for myself. And I’ve always kept my notebooks enthusiastic.

Tell us about yourself, how you describe yourself?

I am a person who is positive about every aspect of life. There are many things I like to do, to see, and to experience. I like to read, I like to write; I like to think, I like to dream; I like to talk, I like to listen. I like to see the sunrise in the morning, I live with the sunset, I like to see the moonlight at night; I like to feel the music flowing on my face, I like to smell the wind coming from the ocean. I like to look at the clouds in the sky with a blank mind, I like to do thought experiments when I cannot sleep in the middle of the night. I like flowers in spring, sea in summer, leaves in autumn, and rain in winter. I like to sleep late, I like to get up early; I like to be alone, I like to be surrounded by people. I like country’s peace, I like metropolis’ noise; I like beautiful places, I like the tannins in wine. I like delicious food; I like good books and romantic movies. I like the land and nature, I like people. And, I like to laugh.

How do you come up with the titles to your books?

About the book “Sometimes I miss myself” for example.
A true lover, a person who is in love. His whole life is devoted to his beloved, who sometimes forgets himself. I experienced this, sometimes in my life I missed myself, that’s why I chose this title.

How do you handle literary criticism?

I just ignore it.

How many books have you written? Which is your favourite?

There are currently two. But I have a lot of poetry from the past that I have to choose and prepare at the right time.

What do you do? What is your job?

I’m working in a semi-gov holding company, as an CEO and personal advisor. Also we have a family business on the side which I’m a shareholder.

What do you find most challenging about being a Lyricist?

The new things you can say, the different point of view.

Are you on social media and can your readers interact with you?

Yes I am. Mostly on Instagram @888shk and occasionally on twitter and snapchat, barely on facebook.

Thank you for your time sir, hope we can discuss more things another time.

Thank you. My pleasure.
