The Egyptian stars May El-Ghety and May Calamawy join the cast of the next Hollywood horror movie The mummythat hits United States theaters in April 2026.
Irish filmmaker Lee Cronin, better known for horror successes as Ghost Train (2013), The hole on the ground (2019) and Evil Dead Rise (2023), has been used to write and direct this next horror movie produced in the US.
Originally created by scriptwriters Nina Wilcox Putnam and Richard Schayer in 1932, The mummy The franchise follows the history of the former Egyptian priest that accidentally resurrects, unleashing a mortal curse. The Egyptian actresses El-Ghety and Calamawy, together with Veronica Falcón, Jack Reynor and Laia Costa. The participation of Reynor and Costa was announced for the first time in March, while Falcón, Calamawy and El-Ghety confirmed that they joined production in April.

The film is produced by Jason Blum and James Wan under their respective banners, Blumhouse Productions and Atomic Monster, along with Cronin’s own company, Doppelgängers.
