School counselor charged with molesting children sees more accusers

A former school counselor of Ventura County, who was arrested in November on suspicion of annoying eight young children, has been accused of 14 additional positions of serious crimes of lascivious acts against a child after five more victims appeared, the authorities said.

David Lane Braff, Jr., 42, or Thousand Oaks now faces 31 charges of child sexual abuse involving a total of 13 male and female victims, according to a criminal complaint amended filed on Tuesday by Ventura County prosecutors. It is scheduled to be prosecuted for the new positions on May 21, prosecutors said.

BRAFF was an initial accused of abusing eight students from 6 to 10 years in a school office of the McKevett elementary school in Santa Paula, where he worked as an advisor from 2015 to 2019. In November he declared himself innocent of 17 serious crimes of the performance of the sources of the Fula Tope.

He is currently being held in the Ventura County prison in place or a bail of $ 3 million.

Ventura County District Prosecutor Erik Nasarenko announced that David Lane Braff, Jr., 42, or Thousand Oaks, was arrested for charges of abusing eight children at McKevett elementary school in Santa Paula. Since his judgment, four additional victims have presented themselves from McKevett Elementary School. In addition, there has been a fifth new victim that was supposedly abused between 2004 and 2005, while Braf was used in the Recreation and Park District rabbit in Thousand Oaks.

“The defendant is now accused of annoying young victims in several years and locations,” Ventura Dist. Atty. Eric Nasarenko said in a statement. “Our investigators and prosecutors are still committed to discovering the total scope of the crimes of this defendant, and we urge anyone with information to communicate with our office.”

In the last 24 years, BRAFF has worked in 10 different school districts and youth sports facilities in the County and Los Angeles, prosecutors said. He has occupied numerous positions, including advisor, sports coach, child care assistant, substitute teacher and behavioral therapist.

At the time of his trial, Braff was working as a deputy director and school advisor at the Intermediate School of Ingerter in Winnetka, prosecutors said.

He faces sentence improvements claiming that he took advantage of a position of trust, was pressed in particularly vulnerable victims and committed crimes with planning and sophistication.

The old BRAFF workplaces include the Unified School District of Valley Rabbit, the Unified School District of Moorpark, the Network ABA, Inc., the Bright Star schools, the Río School District, the Toussand Oaks Sports Academy and the Unified School School District of Ventura.
