A stack of the best 2024 books is above a woodA stack of the best 2024 books is above a wood

Changing favorite readings is my favorite social currency form. I reversed some really special books this year and felt that it was the right time to compile a list of those who remained in my mind long after reading the last page. My criteria for what makes a reading worthy of sharing extends beyond simply like the book. Many of these authors made me feel uncomfortable and apprehensive, and this is how I like it, but that does not mean that I do not enjoy an escapist book.

Today I am sharing a brief and incomplete list of the books that I could not stop talking this year.

Here are seven of the best books I have read in 2024.

1. The perfectionist guide to lose control By Katherine Morgan Schapler

Have you ever heard of a “messy perfectionist” before? Katherine Morgan Schafler’s The perfectionist guide to lose control He resonated with me deeply because he deepens the origins and complexities of perfectionism, offering a 360 -day perspective on the many ways in which he manifests. I found Scaffler’s ideas and refreshing personal anecdotes. She suggests that we discard the label “in recovery of the perfectionist” (one to which I have signed) and instead we consider perfectionism as a superpower to be used forever instead of stopping.

I read this book twice this year and plan to pick it up again during the holidays.

2. Bittersweet By Susan Cain

In Bittersweet Susan Cain explores the concept of agridulce and how to adopt positive and negative emotions can lead to a richer and more satisfactory life. Through beautiful stories and personal research, Cain argues that bittersweet is an essential part of human experience and that can help us appreciate the beauty and fragility of life.

This book touched parts of myself that I had closed for a long time as strange, sensitive and something that I should never express in public. However, they are so central to who I am. Susan Cain is still a champion of sensitive, calm and deep thinkers.

3. Slowdown By Rachel Schwartzmann

Slowdown It is a guide to live a slower and more intentional life. It offers practical strategies to reduce stress, increase full attention and find more joy at the present time. This book is organized around the process of learning to reduce speed, which seemed incredible to me. We cannot run before we can walk, and decrease speed in adulthood is mainly a learning ability.

4. The Ministry of Time By Kaliane Bradley

A time travel love story meets comedy in the workplace with the turns and turns of a spy thriller. This book challenges genres and delighted me with its prose-Smart and deeply human characters.

5. The four legs By Miranda Julio

Everyone has an opinion about this book. I love how to make a friend Flaed but well intentional. I admire the creative options that July does in all his work. Her disposition to leave things without apologies and self -service made her the perfect artist to collide with the public domain, shouting on the indignities of being a woman of a certain age. Post-Shildbearing deserves to take the center of the stage and be seen. There is something in that feeling of savage that accurately captures the awakening that I just started experiencing, and I know I am not alone.

It is interesting to listen to what people under forty think about the book. They are wide, terrified and off by their barbaric and messy nature. For them, I say, you will get it when you are ready.

6. The creative act By Rick Rubin

This book is essential for anyone brave enough to take their creative expressions seriously. Go to any page and find a reason to continue chasing that need to do something significant for the mystery of intuition.

7. You could make this place beautiful By Maggie Smith

Like many of you, the PUM that made Maggie Smith famous arrived at the exact moment I needed the most. This is the story of what happened to your marriage and career later.
