San Francisco law enforcement veteran Bill Scott to be L.A. Metro’s first police chief

The veteran official of the law, Bill Scott, was appointed Chief of Subros of the Internal Police Department of Traffic Agencies.

Scott announced his retirement as San Franciscio Police Chief this morning after eight years. It had previously passed 27 years with the Los Angeles Police Department.

The Metro Board of Directors approved a new Police and Emergency Management Department last year after an increase in crime and attacks against bus drivers.

Scott will build the department and supervise the training and selection of personnel. It has the leader security coordination task for the 2026 World Cup, the Super Bowl 2027 and the 2028 Olympic Games.

“We listen to the call of the community to a leader who is calm under pressure, emotionally intelligent and cunning political,” said Metro CEO, Stephanie Wigging, in a statement. “This is a decisive moment for the public security strategy.

Scott will assume his new role on June 23, according to the statement.
