India is willing to reduce 100 percent of tariffs on US goods, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, once again said that he will soon say a commercial agreement between New Delhi and Washington.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump, however, said he is not in a “career” for the proposed commercial agreement.
In the context of the repeated claim of the president of the United States of India that offers to withdraw all tariffs on US assets, external minister, S Jaishankar, said in New Delhi on Thorsday’s day that “any commercial agreement must be mutually beneficial.”
Trump again described India as “one of the highest tariff nations in the world.” “They make it almost impossible to do business. Do you know they are willing to reduce 100 percent of their tariffs for the United States?” Trump said.
When asked if the deal with India will arrive soon, Trump said: “That will come soon. I’m not in a hurry. Look, everyone wants to reach an agreement with us.”
Then he added: “South Korea wants to make a deal, but it will not make deals with everyone. I will establish the limit. I will make other offers.
India and the United States are having conversations to sign a commercial agreement.
On Thursday, Jaishankar said commercial conversations have been happening between India and the United States.
“These are complicated negotiations. Nothing is decided until everything is. Any commercial agreement must be mutually beneficial; it has to work for both countries,” he said.
“That would be our expectation of the trade agreement.”
The Minister of Commerce, Piyush Goyal, is currently in Washington to evaluate the progress of negotiations for the commercial agreement.
It is expected to have conversations with the United States Secretary of the United States Howard Lutnick and the United States Trade Representative (USTR) Jamieson Greer.
To boost bilateral trade, India seeks work concessions for intensive intensive labor sectors such as textiles, gems and jewelry, leather items, clothing, plastics, chemicals, shrimp, oil seeds, chemicals, grapes and bananas.
On the other hand, the US service concessions in sectors such as certain industrial products, motorbases (electric vehicles in particular), wines, petrochemical products, dairy products, agricultural items such as apple and tree nuts.
