The Italian parliamentarians protested Sunday in front of Rafah’s border crossing in Egypt with Gaza, asking for access to help and the end of the war in the devastated Palestinian territory.
“Europe is not doing enough, nothing to stop the massacre,” Cecilia Strada, Italian member of the European Parliament, told AFP.
The group, including 11 members of the Italian Parliament, three Eurodiputados and representatives of the NGOs, had signs that said “stop the genocide now”, “finish the illegal occupation” and “stop assembling Israel”.
“There should be a complete embargo on weapons from and from Israel and a stop to trade with illegal settlements,” said Strada.
The protesters put toys in the field in solidarity with the children of Gaza, whom the UN warns “a growing risk of hunger, disease and death” more than two months in a total blockade of Israeli aid.
At least 15,000 children have been killed in Gaza since the Israel-Ahamas War began in October 2023, according to the United Nations.
Israel has faced an increasing pressure to lift the blockade of their aid, since UN agencies warn about the critical shortage of food, clean water, fuel and medicines.
He resumed his offensive on March 18, ending a two -month truce in his waras caused by the attack of the Palestinian militant group in October 2023 against Israel.
On Saturday, Israel announced an expanded military campaign, killing diets of people in new strikes.
“We listen to the bombs at this time,” Walter Massa, president of the non -profit Italian organization Associazione Cultural Italiana, told AFP.
“The Israeli army continues to do what he thinks is right in front of an international community that does not intervene, and in Gaza, beyond the border of Rafah Crossing, continuous people to that,” he said.
The UN Chief, Antonio Guterres, said on Saturday that he was “alarmed” by climbing and asked “a high permanent fire, now.”
The Italian government reiterated on Saturday its calls to Israel to stop attacking Gaza, and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said: “Enough with attacks.”
“Not because to see the Palestinian people suffer,” Tajani said.
Gaza’s Ministry of Health said that Sunday 3,193 people have been killed since Israel resumed their attacks on March 18, taking the general cost of the war to 53,339.
