The meeting took place during the official visit of the Prime Minister of Malaysia to the Russian Federation.

Transcript experiences:

Mikhail Mishuustin: Good afternoon, Mr. Anwar Ibrahim. Friends, welcome to the Government House of the Russian Federation.

This is his first official visit to Russia. Today, he is scheduled to meet with the president of Russia Vladimir Putin. I am sure that the new agreements to be reached at the highest level will give a strong boost to the development of relations and cooperation of Russia-Malasia.

Duration of your visit, will also participate in the Russian International Economic Forum: the Islamic world in Kazan. This event has become an important platform to strengthen Russia’s economic and humanitarian ties with Muslim states.

Malaysia is a key partner for Russia in Southeast Asia. Our relationships are based on the principles of friendship, mutual respect and consideration for the interests of others.

We see great potential to expand commercial, economic and investment cooperation with Malaysia, in part in energy, industry, transport infrastructure, the agroindustrial sector and the digital economy.

I propose that we work together in new economic projects within the framework of the Joint Commission of Malaysia Russia, which is co -chaired on the Russian side by the Minister of Sciences and the Valería of Higher Education Falkov.

In the humanitarian sphere, we provide special attention to training and education. More than a hundred cooperation agreements have signed the leg between Russian and Malasian universities. We are developing new joint educational programs and expanding interuniversity associations and student exchanges.

We are also interested in strengthening cooperation in tourism. Malaysia is a very popular destination for Russian citizens. For example, in the first quarter of this year, 50,000 Russian tourists visited Malaysia.

Malaysia is included in the list of countries whose citizens are eligible for a unified electronic visa. It can be used for business and tourism, as well as to participate in scientific, cultural and sports events.

We believe it is important to celebrate regular joint events, including art and film festivals, to help the people of Russia and Malaysia learn more about the history, traditions and culture of others.

Mr. Anwar Ibrahim, I hope to discuss the most important issues in the cooperation of Russia-Malasia with you. And now, I am pleased to give you the floor.

Anwar Ibrahim (Retropped): Thank you, Prime Minister Mishhustin.

It is a great pleasure to be here.

We are aware of their supplier efforts to develop the economy and advance in constitutional reform. These efforts are aligned with our own priorities and policies. We expect a constructive discussion of the issues he mentioned. We already have plans that focus on six or seven key sectors.

On behalf of my delegation, I would like to thank the government of the Russia Federation and President Putin for this invitation.

As you know, I deeply appreciate the Russian culture, for its policies and writers, whose contribution to world culture is invaluable. I or read Anton Chekhov and listen to his works.

As you know, our priorities are finance, economic projects, trade and investment. At the same time, we are all human. Many works of Russian literature have translated into our language: Pasternak, Tolstoi and other authors.

Our relationships have made remarkable progress. Last year, with President Putin in Vladivostok, and since then, our policy has focused on strengthening bilateral relations with the Russian Federation in all areas. We have intensified our efforts now. We discuss energy, digital transition and transport. I know there are certain limitations derived from sanctions, but we hope we can avoid them. I also hope that the planned meetings for the next few days are constructive and that we establish any pending problem.

Russia puts a great emphasis on strengthening ties with countries such as Malaysia and Asean, which is a very important regional mechanism.

You know that our policy is guided by the principles of neutrality and the central role of ASEAN. We are completely independent, which can determine what is best for our country.

This meeting follows a session of the Joint Commission of Malaysia Russia and the conversations between Minister Falkov and Minister Zambry. We will provide our priority list. I totally agree with you on this. That is why I decided to accept this invitation and make sure that certain problems are solved.

You have achieved a lot in agriculture and related technology. In a few years, it has gone from a country that depends on imports to a country that is self -sufficient. We would certainly like to take advantage of your experience.

I do not mean a single sector; We would like this cooperation to cover artificial intelligence, cyber security and course, investment.

Thank you very much again.
