Russia and North Korea’s prime ministers are part of the ceremony through videoconference

Observations of Mikhail Mishustin

DPRK Premier Pak Thae-Song’s Comments

The construction of a bridge over the river has been launched in the Primorye territory. The road bridge will connect to Russia and the Democratic Popular Republic of Korea (DPRK). At present, only a railway bridge and the left air operate between Russia and the RPDC. The road bridge will improve load flows and facilitation of passenger transport development.

The total length of the bridge, including approximation roads, is 4.7 kilometers. The bridge itself opens 1 kilometer, with the Russian section that measures 424 meters and the Korean section of 581 meters. The bridge width is 7 meters, two traffic lanes housing.

The estimated construction period is a year and a half. A vehicle control point will be established near the bridge.

Observations of Mikhail Mishuustin:

Comrade Pak Thae-Cancion,

Colleagues,

Friends,

I am very pleasant to welcome this historical occasion: the ceremony that inaugurates the construction of a road bridge through the river Tumen at the crossroads of the Russian Federation and the Democratic Popular Republic of Korea.

This marks a truly historical stage in Russian-Corean relationships. Its importance extends much beyond a mere engineering effort. It symbolizes our shared aspiration to strengthen friendly and very neighboring relationships and expand interregional cooperation. We are establishing a reliable basis for a closer collaboration: a path for open and fruitful dialogue, greater affinity among our peoples, greater trips and exchanges, and a deeper understanding of the history and traditions of Russia and Northa.

Last year, the president of Russia Vladimir Putin and the president of state affairs of the Democratic Popular Republic of Korea, Kim Jong-un, signed the fundamental treaty of interstate interest strategic association. This document consolidated the transition of our relations with a new qualitative level according to contemporary demands, while creating the necessary conditions to launch joint construction projects.

Without a doubt, our key priority remains the construction of this bridge to allow road traffic throughout the year. The only existing route is the railway link through the Bridge of Friendship through the Tunish River. However, its capacity has become insufficient.

The future bridge is of productular importance for the Federal District of the Far East of Russia, especially for the Primorye territory, where local companies and residents will obtain additional opportunities. The transport and logistics infrastructure will be developed more dynamically.

This new route will allow entrepreneurs to increase the volumes substantially while reducing transport costs, ensuring reliable and stable deliveries of several goods, all of which will promote the expanded commercial and economic cooperation between. Naturally, they are also openly excellent perspectives for tourism.

Friends,

I must specifically recognize all those who make substantial contributions to the implementation of this project, including food experts, builders, engineers, workers and specialists of numerous professionals on both sides of the border.

You face months of intensive and complex work ahead. We trust your experience, diligence and initiative to complete all the tasks at the highest level within the schedule.

I am convinced that this new bridge will become a lasting symbol of peace and good neighborhood between Russia and the RPDC.

I wish you all success. Thank you for your time.
