Spaceex could soon have its own city in southern Texas.
In December, Elon Musk’s company presented a petition requesting an election to incorporate its Starbase site, the manufacturing and launching center of its new Megarockt spacecraft, as a city.
And now the time has come: the election will take place on Saturday (May 3).
If you expect a drama of counting votes late at night, you will probably be disappointed.
“It is likely that the choice will leave on the path of musk. That is the majority of voters who work for him,” said Lauren McGaidhy of the Texas writing room, a collaboration of the Public Radio Stations in the state of the lonely star.
“The Texas writing room obtained a list of the 283 voters eligible to cast a vote in the special Starbase elections,” McGaidhy added. “More than 3 out of 5 work for Spacex, according to an analysis of LinkedIn profiles and social networks that document their employment. An additional 20 were among the dishes of people who signed a request asking for the vote of incorporation.”
Then, I ate two thirds of the people eligible to vote in Saturday’s elections “, either to work for Spacex or has already indicated their support for the new city of Starbase,” he wrote. “The number could be much higher.”
Starship is ever built, and is designed to be completely reusable. Spacex believes that the vehicle will make the settlement of Mars, a long-standing dream of the muskle-economicly feasible.
Making Starbase a city is a step in that ambitious road too, okay for the company.
“To continue increasing the necessary workforce to quickly develop and manufacture the spacecraft, we need the ability to grow Starbase as a community,” Spacex said in the request of December 2024, which went to Cameron County, Eddie Treviño Jr.
“The incorporation of Starbase will rationalize the necessary processes to build the necessary comforts to make the area a world class to live, for hundreds of hundreds that they already call it home, as well as for future workers anxious to help build. In space,” future in the future.
