The LPGA board of directors elected Craig Kessler on Thursday as the tenth commissioner of organizations on Thursday.

Kessler, 39, worked more recently as the main operational sacrifice for the PGA of America.

His mandate begins on July 15 when he replaces Mollie Marcoux Samaan, who resigned in January.

“It’s just about leading a sports organization, it’s about redefining what is possible,” said Kessler. “This role is deeply personal for me, not only as a professional opportunity, but as a chans to make a difference in the world and create new opportunities for others. Golf changes lives. I believe in the mission of the LPGA, its impulse.

Kessler’s appointment is the duration of the emblematic season of the 75th anniversary of LPGA.

“We set out to find a transformative leader with a deep appreciation for the legacy of the LPGA and a clear vision of what is possible for our future,” said the president of the Board, John B. Veihmeyer. “Craig is an inspiring and attractive leader, who brings a unique combination of experience in executive leadership, deep relationships in the golf industry and a genuine commitment to raise women and girls through golf. The LPGA has never been more dynamic, and Craig is exactly the appropriate leader to boost his next era of growth and impact.”

Before working for PGA of America, Kessler was the CEO of the retail company Buff City Soap based in Dallas. It serves at the Boards of the National Golf Foundation and the Hospital System of UT Southwestern.

Liz Moore will continue as an interim commissioner until Kessler’s term begins.
