It is late at night in southern Nashville, and the seventh day of an immigration scan of one week here. The state soldiers of Tennessee, followed by Federal ICE agents in unmarked cars, ran through deserted streets in this predominantly Hispanic neighborhood. “Are you in Harding? Now, this target returned there too.” These are volunteers from Remix Tennessee, an immigrant defense organization. They are trying to document and interrupt what they say is an unprecedented association between state soldiers and ice agents. “Yes, he is very afraid in the community. As, I am having conversations with the families of the people who want to defend themselves because they do not want to experience, again, what they experienced.” Self -sports is something that the Trump administration has been promotion. He simply began offering charter flights and money to those who choose it. On the night, Gisselle Huerta, 24, and Stephanie Alas, 25, arrive at the scene of a traffic stop. “This car is stopping. It’s ice.” Here you see a state soldier vehicle, and here you see an unmarked car with standing ice agents. “Then, they simply achieved some, and we left here and tried to find out why. Do you need something of us? Are you okay? Yes, are we going to wait here until they let go to the gentleman, and then we will be.” State soldiers cannot generally enforce immigration laws, and ICE agents cannot pull cars without probable cause or a court order. But this new strategy, which the Road Patrol called a Cooperative Public Security operation, has done a bit that routine traffic stops have ended in immigration trials. That is exactly what happened to Ana and her fiance, both undocumented. He asked to remain in anonymity for fear of deportation. “So, when he stops us, I ask him:” Why are you throwing us? “And all he says is:” Your dyes are too dark. “Heyn not for identifications. The next thing you know is that we surround us with cars. Ana said that no appointments were given and that she was in custody by ice. She was a hero in a cell for hours.” More than 20 in each because there is no space. There is only one bathroom. They begin to process one by one. I like a long time. It is hot there. “She was released and said it was a reason. ICE has said they are pointing to undocumented immigrants with criminal record. But Ana’s fiance, who has no known criminal record, was arrested. He was sent to a Louisian detention center. Duration of our interview with her, he called.” My son is scared for everything that happens in general. He thinks I’m not going to work home. People are afraid. Nobody wants to leave, and I understand. Duration of this weekly operation, the Tennessee road patrol said it made 660 stops for traffic violations. Almost 200 of those stops resulted in immigration trials, and only half of them had previous or slope criminal charges. In a statement to Times, Tennessee’s road patrol said the recent operation focused solely on enforcing Tennessee’s transit laws, and that federal actions managed separate immigration actions. The governor of Tennessee said he was a partner of ICE, that the operation was an effort to eliminate criminals from the streets. ICE called the operation a success. “This is what I call home. I’ve been here, as I said, for 27 years, and we never saw something like that. What I want people to know: they go to another state after this.”
